How You Can Help

We are always looking for individuals age 18 or older, in good physical health and of sound moral character who are caring and community minded, team players, the type of person who enjoys a challenge, who likes to learn and acquire new skills. If you think this is you and are interested in joining the Huntington Community First Aid Squad or would just like more information, please email us at hcfas@yahoo.com.

 

You can also help in other ways:

 
  • Yield the right-of-way on the road when you hear a siren or see a green light flashing on a car. This goes a long way to helping your neighbors in need.
  • Working toward preventing emergencies. Many accidents are preventable.
  • Be prepared. Make sure your house number is clearly visible to assist the crew in getting to your situation faster. Have your medical history, allergies and current medication written down for the crew.
  • Get some basic training. These are short classes, between a few hours and a few days that will go a long way to helping a person in an emergency.
  • Learn the Heimlich Maneuver and when to use it to assist a person who is choking.
  • Learn First Aid and CPR to assist in an emergency situation.
  • Learn how to use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) to assist a person in a cardiac emergency.
